New Sexually Transmitted Fungal Infection Hits New York!

I only learned about this newly sexually transmitted fungal infection a few hours ago and felt compelled to share some accurate information about it on my blog.

Introduction:

Well, this new fungal infection’s first case was first reported in New York, which was hard to treat by doctors. it is a new and highly contagious form of ringworm or jock itch reported by NYU Langone Health as a “ highly infectious fungal “.

Sexually Transmitted Fungal Infection

As per a report, this is the US first case of sexually transmitted fungal infection caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes type VII (TMVII) which can make anyone sick for months despite treatment

The only protection is through awareness and proactive screening for sexually active individuals, as it is difficult to treat it through medicine.

Resistant Fungal Strain:

NYU Langone physicians and the New York State Department of Health reported that this fungal (Trichophyton indotineae) has a genetic mutation that makes it resistant to standard therapies, which makes it difficult to diagnose and treat.

Symptoms of Fungal Infections:

The most common symptom is skin rashes or tinea. Its infection resembles eczema lesions rather than ringworm lesions, which cause delays in its treatment.

Research Efforts and Future Directions:

healthcare departments and the government need to keep track of new case and should collaborate with other national healthcare providers to find the proper medication for this infection.  Till the time treatment comes, we must spread awareness about this infection among locals.

Conclusion:

It’s quite clear that this fungus is highly infectious and difficult to treat; hence, early detection, proactive screening, and personalized treatment are the only options available at present.

So my advice is to be proactive, be safe,, and if there is any rash, you must visit the doctor.
