Second Trimester-13th week to 26th week
Well second trimester will be golden period of your pregnancy. You will feel more energetic and active . All those first trimester symptoms that make you feel dull will get faded each day.
Second trimester will start from 13th week of your pregnancy and continue till 26th week. Now world start recognizing you as pregnant as your womb and belly grow in size. You will also start feeling the movement of baby in your belly.
Even though you did not feel or notice much but your baby growth but it will remain continue during these 13 weeks.
In fourth month your baby facial features starts getting more clear, its finger, toes , eyelids, eyebrow nails and hairs are formed . Baby nervous system starts functioning, Its Bones and teeth get more denser. Baby Reproductive organ also completely develop by fourth month. Your gynecologist now can see on ultrasound whether your baby is Boy or Girl. Baby size will grow up to 6 inches in fourth month.
During fifth month hair begin to grow at your baby head and baby skin covered with vernix caseosa to protect its skin from harmful fluids. Your baby will start moving as its muscles will develop in this month .Baby size will grow upto 10 inces by the fifth month end
Your baby start responding toward sound through movement in its sixth month. Baby toes and finger are now completely visible. Its eyelids begin to part by the end of sixth month. your baby grow upto 12 inches by the sixth month end.
If there is premature delivery of baby after 24th week of pregnancy then baby will easily survive with intensive care.
Second level ultrasound will perform midway between second trimester that is usually between 18th week to 23rd week of pregnancy to ensure the normal growth of baby. Do ask your doctor during ultrasound to show you baby little hand ,face ,feet etc. it’s would be wonderful experience to see little champ on ultrasound screen.
Well I would never recommend anyone to go for that as I have seen lots of women that face complication after abortion such they are not able to conceive easily again after abortion. However there might be some medical complication or necessity that forced couple to take such hard decision.
As per medical association recommendation one can go for abortion during her first and second trimester only. More early you will decide to go for it lesser complication you would face afterward.I would suggest Max by 16th week you should make your mind about Abortion as afterward things become little more complex for your health.
Due to baby growth and hormonal changes in your body each week you feel something new and different. There are many symptoms that one can relate to its second trimester pregnancy but few one that all of us experience during this period are-
- Mild swelling at feet
- round ligament pain
- cramps at leg
All these symptoms are normal and would vanish with baby growth and development.
During second trimester your baby activeness and movement is more hence your diet must be accordingly so that all required nutrition will be pass on to your baby. For second trimester you should increase the content of below mention food item in your diet
- Lean Meat for high protein , eggs and Legumes such as lentils, peas, beans, chickpeas, soybeans etc :-3-4 times a day eat protein food such as 2-3 ounce meat ,2 eggs or 1 cup of legumes.
- Whole grain:-4 times a day half cooked cereals.
- Fresh fruits and green vegetable :- 4-5 times a day half cup of salad or fuits
- Dairy products such as cheese milk, Yogurt etc :- min 4 times a day one cup milk or yogurt .
Do eat only those foods that you liked. You should not force yourself to eat more. I would recommend you to first consult with your doctor/dietician before finalizing any diet chart to ensure you and your baby proper nutrition requirement.
Exercise is as important as your diet in pregnancy but you should do it carefully to avoid any pregnancy related complication. Some exercise that you can do are
- Walking in slow pace
- Easy Yoga exercise such as normal breathing exercise
I recommend you to do exercise for first 2-3 min and then take break .In case you uncomfortable then you should continue it further. Also do consult with your doctor before starting at any new exercise of you own.
Don’t Do list for your Pregnancy.
Below is Do not Do list that you must follow during your pregnancy for your health and your baby growth.
- Do not Smoke
- Do not Drink Alcohol
- Do not exercise of high impact such as cycling , heavy weight lifting etc
- Do not play any games of high impact such as diving ,rugby etc
- Do not take drugs
- Do not diet or fast.
- Do not eat too much beyond your capacity.
Apart from above list there would be many other things that your should avoid doing depending on your normal routine work so I recommend you to share your routine work details with your gynecologist to get know about things that you must avoid during your pregnancy.
